Abstract

Forensic DNA analysis plays a critical role in criminal justice by providing reliable evidence to identify perpetrators and exonerate innocent individuals. Recent advancements in DNA sequencing technologies have significantly enhanced the precision of forensic investigations. The development of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies offers a higher throughput, greater sensitivity, and deeper analysis of genetic material compared to traditional methods like Short Tandem Repeat (STR) analysis. This paper explores the application of NGS in forensic DNA analysis, its advantages over conventional techniques, and the potential challenges it presents to forensic science.
