Floods rank among the most common and devastating natural disasters, resulting in substantial loss of life, property, and environmental stability worldwide. In recent years, in view of the growing effects of climate change and increasing urbanization, the need for effective flood management has assumed greater importance than ever before. This paper aims at highlighting the importance of mathematical modeling in the prediction, analysis, and management of floods in the modern world. Some of the significant mathematical modeling approaches used in the prediction and management of floods include hydrological modeling, continuity equations, regression analysis, and risk assessment based on probability theory. This study aims at highlighting the importance of these modeling approaches in the management of floods in the modern world. In addition, it aims at highlighting some of the challenges associated with the implementation of these approaches in the management of floods in the modern world. This study concludes that mathematical modeling is one of the fundamental tools used in improving the efficiency and reliability of modern flood management systems.
